Accounting

The College of Coastal Georgia BS with a major in Accounting will prepare students for employment as professional accountants or other business careers. This major will also serve as a foundation toward preparation for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination and for graduate studies in business or law.

American Studies

The Bachelor of Arts with a Major in American Studies prepares students for careers where strong analytical and communication skills are valued alongside creativity and global awareness. American Studies majors critically examine American life in a curriculum that emphasizes innovative service-learning, historical knowledge and contemporary theoretical approaches to engage actively with the community and region.

Biological Sciences

Are you interested in the study of life, ranging from molecules to ecosystems, with applications in conservation, medicine, and more? The Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences is designed to help students develop the content knowledge, conceptual understanding, and scientific skills needed to explore the living world across all levels of biological organization.

Core Curriculum

The Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) prepares students planning further study in many disciplines at CCGA and at other colleges or universities. This degree consists of 42 hours of the required core curriculum courses and 18 hours of lower level courses related to a bachelor's degree field of study. This program does not does not include a major or minor course of study.

The field of criminal justice offers opportunities to contribute across multiple areas, including law enforcement, investigations, the courts, corrections, and cyber defense.

Culinary Arts

Career opportunities in the culinary industry are many and varied. There is a documented need for well-educated professionals in Culinary Arts in the Coastal Georgia area as well as in the state and nation. Tourism has increased significantly and is a major component of the nation's economy. Positions are available in restaurants, resorts, and hotels, as well as institutional food service areas like hospitals and retirement communities.

Cyber Defense

Upon completion of the certificate in Cyber Defence, students should acquire the needed job-related knowledge in cybersecurity. The program combines hands-on learning with a rigorous curriculum. Students are required to compete in cyber security competitions. The certificate in Cyber Defense requires 15 hours of CYBR, CSCI or ITEC courses.

Data Science

The School of Arts and Sciences offers the Bachelor of Science Degree in Data Science. The program offers the student the opportunity to select a concentration in Computational Data Analytics, Healthcare Analytics, Financial Analytics, Marketing, or Entrepreneurship. The data science degree program provides an interdisciplinary education for students interested in acquiring and developing the skills necessary to pursue a career as a data analyst or data scientist.

Elementary and Special Education

The Bachelor of Science in Education with dual majors in Elementary and Special Education prepares candidates for a prekindergarten through 5th grade (P-5) teaching career and certification in both fields. Working in a dynamic cohort model, teacher candidates learn to teach through practice-based coursework, extensive field-based learning in P-5 classrooms, community-based experiences, and the development of research-based and responsive teaching practices.

Environmental Science

Environmental Scientists seek to understand, monitor, and responsibly manage environmental resources. The courses required by this certificate introduce students to the principles, skills, and techniques required for applied careers in environmental science and management.

Film and Television Production

The Certificate in Film & Television Production is provided through a cooperative arrangement with the Georgia Film Consortium. It offers rigorous professional training, and may lead to union-covered film and television production craft internships and placement in creative industries apprenticeships and jobs.

Fundamentals of Coastal Geology

Coastal geologists seek to understand, monitor, and responsibly manage coastal features and resources. To obtain this certificate, students will be introduced to these skills and techniques through classroom- and field-based experiences that focus on identifying, discovering, and managing earth resources, forecasting and mitigating natural hazards, and responsibly and effectively guiding decision makers and environmental policy.

General Business

Integrating an innovative curriculum, highly regarded faculty, a supportive academic environment, and a vibrant business community, the BBA focuses on developing sound decision-making skills, up-to-date and evolving business competencies, and the application of learning to real-world organizations. All students participate in a required internship and service-learning activities focused on developing entrepreneurial spirit, teamwork skills and valued abilities.

Health Sciences

The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is an interdisciplinary program for new students and current healthcare professionals. The program emphasizes the differences between health and illness and addresses healthcare needs across the lifespan. Coursework focuses on both the basic sciences and health sciences. Students also engage in real-world field experiences to prepare them to excel in a variety of professional healthcare settings.

Hospitality, Tourism & Event Management

The Bachelor's in Hospitality, Tourism & Event Management is a specialized degree that gives students the industry knowledge and management skills needed to succeed as a leader in hospitality, the world's largest service industry, as well as in the dynamic world of event management. Combining practical skills with management theory, the program positions students to think strategically about the creation of value in hospitality and events.

Mathematics

Mathematics will prepare students to successfully pursue occupations in various industry and government positions requiring bachelor-level proficiency in the mathematical sciences, or graduate education in the mathematical sciences and engineering.

Middle Grades Education

The Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education prepares candidates for a 4th - 8th grade teaching career and certification in two content area concentrations: language arts, mathematics, social studies, and/or science. Working in a dynamic cohort model, teacher candidates learn to teach through practice-based coursework, extensive field-based learning in 4th - 8th grade classrooms, community-based experiences, and the development of research-based and responsive teaching practices.

Nursing

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four-year pre-licensure degree (Fast-Track BSN program can be completed in 3 1/2 years) that prepares students to enter the nursing profession as a nurse generalist. The graduate is qualified to practice in a variety of health care settings and nursing specialties. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) for entry into practice in any state.

Nursing

Our programs utilize state-of-the-art medical-grade equipment and engage students in dynamic interdisciplinary simulation experiences. Simulation in nursing education lets students safely practice clinical skills and decision-making in realistic scenarios. Classroom and clinical experiences are designed to develop students’ clinical judgement and clinical reasoning for optimal patient outcomes.

Nursing - RN to BSN

The RN-BSN program is designed for nurses who have earned an Associate of Science in Nursing degree and wish to return to school for their BSN. Given the advances in healthcare, increasingly complex patients, expansion of community health, and intricate technologies, many nurses feel the need for additional education. The program is designed to further nurses' knowledge regarding disease processes, evidence-based practice, professionalism, ethics, informatics, community health, and leadership.

Psychology

The Bachelor of Science with a Major in Psychology is designed for students who want to make a difference in the lives of others. Radiologic Science

The Associate of Science in Radiologic Science (RS) is a 69-credit-hour program that prepares students to become entry-level radiographers. Radiographers are members of a team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. Radiographers are trained in the art and science of diagnostic imaging by learning physics, radiation biology imaging procedures, pathology, and radiation safety.

Scientific Diving

Scientific Diving is a skill set that can be used in the fields such as; Marine Science, Marine Archaeology, Marine Natural Resources Management, and Marine Conservation, among others. The AAUS (American Academy of Underwater Sciences) Scientific Diving certification provides evidence to employers (and future employers) that a student knows, understands, and can apply safe diving practices and proper scientific diving procedures in accordance with AAUS Scientific Diving Standards.

Secondary Education

The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education prepares candidates for a teaching career and certification in 6th - 12th grade Biology or Mathematics. Working in a dynamic cohort model, teacher candidates learn to teach through practice-based coursework, extensive field-based learning in 6th-12th grade classrooms, community-based experiences, and the development of research-based and responsive teaching practices.

Wetland Science

Wetlands play a critical role in natural and human environments by mitigating floods, improving water quality, and providing habitat for wildlife. There is a growing need for scientists to manage, conserve, and restore wetlands across non-profit, private, and government sectors. To obtain this certificate, students will gain comprehensive knowledge about wetland ecosystems and learn how to monitor, manage, restore, and delineate wetlands through classroom- and field-based experiences.

Workforce Management and Leadership

The School of Business and Public Management seeks to offer a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree with an emphasis in Workforce Management and Leadership. The primary goal of the degree is to enhance the supervisory abilities of highly skilled technically trained individuals. The Bachelor of Applied Science provides a distinctive baccalaureate degree that builds upon the technical skills and knowledge acquired in an Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Applied Technology degree.
