English and Comparative Literature

In literature courses students examine written works to determine their meanings, value and historical contexts, while writing courses develop skills in poetry, fiction and nonfiction. The major is excellent preparation for law school and other professional training requiring interpretation of written material, as well as careers in public relations, editing, teaching and publishing.
