This major prepares secondary school candidates to teach the three components of the secondary English curriculum and the South Carolina 9-12 English Language Arts Curriculum Standards, meeting NCTE Standards 9-12. Students complete 27 hours of major courses, 11 hours of other required courses, 33 hours of professional education including observation and directed teaching, and six hours of electives in addition to General Education.
