This Excavator Operator Training Course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to become proficient and safe excavator operators. Through a combination of online instruction, lab activities, and on-site training, students will learn about the different parts and functions of an excavator, master basic to advanced operation techniques, and gain an understanding of industry-standard safety protocols and maintenance procedures.

Detailed information about this program

This course gives participants the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to become proficient and safe excavator operators. Through online instruction, lab activities, and on-site training, participants learn the parts and functions of an excavator, master basic to advanced operation techniques, and apply industry-standard safety protocols and maintenance procedures. The training covers excavator types and applications, components, controls, and attachments, hands-on maneuvers in a controlled environment, safety and emergency shut-off procedures, accident response, industry standards, and routine maintenance and troubleshooting. By the end, participants can identify excavator parts, demonstrate proper operation and safety precautions, perform basic maintenance, and apply their skills confidently in real-world construction and demolition projects. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential. Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges. Credit awards are granted solely at the discretion of the receiving institution in accordance with its academic policies.
