Administrative Office Technology

The Administrative Office Technology program is designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for success in today's computerized office. Students are offered an opportunity to experience extensive hands-on training with up-to-date office equipment and computer software. Students also receive course work in Math, English, filing, office procedures, and work simulations.

AESTHETICS

Automotive Technology

The aim of this program is to provide trainees with a thorough understanding of the methods of servicing and repairing automotive vehicles. Trainees are taught to use the proper factory-approved methods of servicing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles. Training includes learning to make proper diagnosis using test equipment, hand tools, special equipment, precision measuring tools, and service manuals and specifications.

Barbering

The Barbering Program provides students with the necessary skills needed to pass the Tennessee Board of Cosmetology and Barber's practical and written examinations. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in barbering, will receive instruction in personal and shop safety rules and state regulations, sanitation and sterilization standards, and the proper use of equipment and implements commonly found in a barbershop.

Barbering Instructor Training

The mission of the Barbering Instructor Training is to prepare the instructor-student with the knowledge of the classroom setting and instructional techniques to be successful in teaching in the area of Barbering and related studies.

Building Construction Technology

The Building Construction Technology Program provides the student with the fundamentals of carpentry, residential electrical wiring, residential plumbing, and block and brick laying. Instruction methods include classroom lecture, audio-visuals and extensive live work projects on actual construction projects.

Computer Aided Design Technology

This program includes instruction in basic drafting with the student choosing emphasis in either Architectural or Mechanical drafting. CAD Technology offers certificates as well as a diploma in the area of choice. Computer Aided Design is incorporated into both areas of concentration where trainees learn to create accurate and complete drawings using techniques such as red-line drafting.

Computer Information Technology

The industries relating to the installation, operation, support, and securing of computer and network information systems are ever-expanding and challenging fields that offer a wide variety of vocational opportunities to those individuals pursuing a career in this occupational area.

Cosmetology

Personal beauty service is recognized as a necessity by most people today, and performance of this service can be satisfactory rendered only by operators who possess the skills and knowledge of the trade and who are adept at social courtesies. A state license is required for the practice of beauty culture, and a formal examination must be passed before this license can be obtained.

Cosmetology Instructor Training

The mission of the Cosmetology Instructor Training is to prepare the instructor-student with the knowledge of the classroom setting and instructional techniques to be successful in teaching in the area of Cosmetology and related studies.

Criminal Justice: Correctional Officer

Dental Assisting

This Dental Assisting Technology program prepares students to become members of a health care team in a dental setting. The course includes theory with demonstrations and classroom instruction. Students receive supervised experience performing procedures using study models, mannequins, and other simulated methods. Students are required to complete three months of supervised experience in a clinical setting.

Diesel Powered Equipment Technology

The Diesel Powered Equipment Technology program provides practical experience in the repair and maintenance of diesel powered equipment. Students receive instruction in troubleshooting, engine analysis, disassembling engines replacing defective parts, reassembling, etc. The program mission is to provide technical, instructional, and skill development to enable students to enter employment in truck, construction, agricultural equipment, and other related fields as technicians.

Digital Agronomy

The Digital Agronomy Program will provide students with a foundation in both conventional and regenerative agricultural practices, with a focus on 21st century technology. Students will be exposed to GIS mapping, precision agriculture, the internet of things, and the latest in crop management and irrigation practices.

Electric Vehicle Production Technology

The Electric Vehicle Production Technology program is designed as a pathway for students to be prepared for careers in electric vehicle production facilities. This program meets the electric vehicle manufacturers' entry-level production technician needs. Graduates will complete lectures and hands-on instructional activities that equip them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities of advanced manufacturing processes and procedures related to Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing.

Engineering Systems Technology

As U.S. manufacturing surges, the need for skilled technicians is greater than ever—especially in Tennessee. TCAT Northwest's 12-month Engineering Systems Technology program prepares students for high-demand careers as multi-craft industrial maintenance technicians.

Farming Operations Technology

Farming Operations Technology program will provide students with skills and knowledge needed for today's farming operations which include, but not limited to, row crops, animal agriculture, and precision agriculture.

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, And Refrigeration

HVAC Technicians work on cooling and heating equipment used in commercial and residential buildings. They install and repair equipment ranging in size from small window air conditioners to large central systems. When installing new equipment, the technicians put the motor compressors and other components in place following blueprints and design specifications.

Hybrid Electric Vehicle

The Electric Vehicle Production Technology program is designed as a pathway for students to be prepared for careers in electric vehicle production facilities. This program meets the electric vehicle manufacturers' entry-level production technician needs. Graduates will complete lectures and hands-on instructional activities that equip them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities of advanced manufacturing processes and procedures related to Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing.

HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Industrial Electricity

This program includes classroom and hands-on experience in electronics, electrical, pneumatics, motor controls, programmable controllers, robotics, and related math. Students completing this program are prepared to perform at entry level in a typical industrial environment.

Industrial Maintenance

This program was designed to give the student the knowledge and skills needed to safety and efficiently perform the maintenance tasks that are necessary to maintain the machinery and associated equipment that are common to local industry. This 16-month program offers training on the latest equipment used in the industry.

Industrial Maintenance Automation

The Industrial Maintenance Automation program is designed to prepare students to enter the Industrial Maintenance field in an entry-level position and to enhance the skills of students already employed in the field. The program provides instruction to develop the skills needed to succeed in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment in industrial environment.

Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics

Trainees learn the fundamentals of electricity and electronics which provide the foundation for advanced training in electric motor controls, automated machine control circuits, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, test equipment, production equipment (electrical, electronic, and mechanical), programmable controllers, automation and robotics.

Industrial Maintenance/Molding

The mission of the Industrial Maintenance/Molding program is to guide individuals through an educational experience to become personally, professionally and socially effective industrial maintenance workers. The program is designed to produce highly skilled individuals in the areas of Mechanical, Electrical and Injection Molding-Robotics.

Machine Tool Technology

This program is designed to train students to set-up and safely operate machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, EDM's and drill presses. Students also learn to determine dimensions and tolerances of a part to be machined, sequence of operations, and the tools, materials, and machines required to make that part from blueprint, sketch, damaged part or description of the part to be replaced.

Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting

The Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting Program is an eight-month program designed to train students to a level in patient care technology that prepares them for certification and employment as a PCT. This course offers students training in anatomy and basic science, CPR, First Aid, Phlebotomy, EKG, and patient care technology.

Pharmacy Technology

The Pharmacy Technology program provides both technical instruction and skill development for the student to become gainfully employed in the field of pharmacy. Our curriculum combines classroom and experiential learning. This culminates in hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings, such as hospitals, retail, mail-order, and specialty pharmacies.

Practical Nursing

TCAT Northwest offers the Practical Nursing program on multiple campuses. The PN student studies basic nursing skills and related subjects such as body structure and function, conditions of illness, nutrition, and medications. The clinical experience provides supervised nursing care of medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric, and geriatric patients.

Pre-Practical Nursing (De Only)

Retail, Hospitality & Tourism Technology

The retail, hospitality and tourism industry leads the future as one of the largest growing career sectors not only in Tennessee but in the country. This program will graduate highly skilled professionals who possess a deep understanding of the industry and its many facets and available opportunities.

Truck Driving

This course is designed to provide classroom work, yard driving, and road driving experiences designed to meet the needs of the trucking industry. Students are taught to drive defensively and to have the knowledge necessary to operate the vehicle as well as abiding by all local, state and federal regulations.

Welding Technology

Our Welding Technology Program is designed to provide the student with an opportunity to acquire the technical knowledge and hands-on skills required for employment as a combination welder. We accomplish this task through classroom instruction and practical welding exercises carried out in an industrial shop setting. Welding Processes such as Flux Cored Arc, Gas Metal Arc, Gas Tungsten Arc and Shielded Metal Arc are covered in depth.
