Administrative Office Technology

The Administrative Office Technology program is designed to develop skills through technical training necessary for entry-level employment in an office setting of the 21st Century.The curriculum reflects the use of the latest software applications and state-of-the-art office equipment. During the technical training, students also learn proper office procedures, and interpersonal skills through the strong emphasis of worker characteristics necessary for success in any working environment.

Advanced Manufacturing Technology

Automotive Technology

The aim of this program is to provide trainees with a thorough understanding of the methods of servicing and repairing automotive vehicles. Trainees are taught to use the proper factory-approved methods of servicing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles. Training includes learning to make proper diagnosis using test equipment, hand tools, special equipment, precision measuring tools, and service manuals and specifications.

Building Construction Technology

Building Construction Technology is designed to provide basic knowledge and applicable skills necessary for individuals to work in the building construction industry. Instruction provided will assist students in obtaining certifications in various construction trades, i.e. carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry.

Collision Repair Technology

The automotive Collision Repair Technology program is designed to provide training in repairing damaged auto bodies and parts. This program is Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified and will prepare students to obtain individual certification. Students may choose to do general body and paint work and develop skills in many areas, or they may specialize in the areas in which they have the greatest ability and interest.

Computer Information Systems

The Computer Information Systems program is designed to provide training in computer operations that meet the occupational needs of local business and industry in computer-related areas. The CIS program provides students with first-hand knowledge of the hardware, software, and operations of personal computers used in business and industry today.

Cosmetology

The Cosmetology program provides the student with basic theory and clinical knowledge of the beauty industry through the use of approved textbooks, classroom instruction, and practical application with mannequins and live models. Financial assistance will be available to students who qualify. The program also accepts Tennessee Promise and TCAT Reconnect scholarship grants, which offer two years of free tuition after all other financial assistance is applied.

Criminal Justice: Correctional Officer

The Criminal Justice curriculum is structured to deliver extensive training to correctional and law enforcement personnel. The coursework provides a thorough understanding of inmate processing, maintaining order within a correctional facility, and the proper application of disciplinary actions.

Diesel Powered Equipment Technology

The Diesel Powered Equipment Technology Program provides students with practical experience in the repair and maintenance of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, clutch and transmissions, hydraulics, drive-lines, axles, frame suspension, and diesel truck and tractor steering. Students receive instruction in diagnosing trouble and engine analysis. The fuel injection lab allows students to work on actual diesel vehicles.

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, And Refrigeration

This program consists of classroom and shop learning experiences concerned with commercial chilling and freezing systems, including theory, application and operation of compressors; expansion and float b-valves; thermostats and pressure controls; diagnosing, over-hauling, and testing methods and procedures; charging and discharging systems with refrigerants; and testing hermetic units, relays and overload devices.

Heavy Equipment Operator

The Heavy Equipment Operator program covers the foundational skills of safety, pre- and post-operation checks, site planning and layout, and operations for a range of light-duty and heavy equipment. Heavy Equipment Operations supports multiple unique training pathways and credentials for Utility Tractors, Forklift, Loader, Dozer, Motor Graders, and more.

Industrial Electricity

This program is designed to provide training in basic theories, principles, practices, experiments, and hands-on experience needed to solve everyday problems involved in electrical maintenance, installation, repair, and operation of electrical equipment. Industrial Electricity students will use calculations based on Ohm’s Law to solve problems in electrical and electronic circuits. Reading of schematics, logic and line diagrams is included as well.

Industrial Maintenance Integrated Automation

The Industrial Maintenance Integrated Automation Technology program provides students with a thorough understanding of the theory and operation of industrial plant and advanced manufacturing systems. Students gain the skills necessary to become technicians and to advance in the field of machine and equipment troubleshooting and repair.

Machine Tool Technology

The Machine Tool Technology program develops basic skills in machine tool operations and provides experience on a variety of machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, computer numerical control (CNC) machines, and CAD-CAM. Related math, blueprint reading, precision measuring, basic metallurgy, and heat treating are included.

Meat Processing Technology

The Meat Processing Technology curriculum contains a broad range of courses and competencies to prepare meat cutters, slaughterhouse technicians, meat processors, and meat processing managers to successfully work in commercial or private meat processing facilities. The curriculum is designed in a “backwards scaffold” beginning with training in retail processing and progressing to slaughter and facility management to best meet employer and industry needs.

Millwright Skills

The 12 months of training consists of classroom and "hands-on" learning experiences in the installation, alignment, and maintenance of all types of industrial equipment and machinery, using the latest technologies in troubleshooting, alignment, leveling and repairing. Instruction is given in blueprint reading, welding, industrial electricity, lubrication, pipefitting, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning in order to give the student multiple craft skills.

Nursing Aide

Nutrition And Foodservice Professional Training Program (NFP)

This online program is designed to prepare the student to work as a Dietary Manager in foodservice at an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, school, restaurant, or correctional facility. A Dietary Manager works with Registered Dietitians to provide quality nutritional care for their clients.

Off-Road Diesel Technology

The Off-Road Diesel Tech program provides practical experience in the repair and maintenance of engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, clutch and transmissions, hydraulics, hydrostatic transmissions, drivelines and axles, frame and suspension systems, steering systems, brake systems, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Students receive instruction in diagnosing trouble, system analysis, disassembly, replacing defective parts, reassembling, etc.

Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting

The Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting program is designed to provide the student with a thorough understanding of basic nursing care, including providing direct bedside care to patients in a variety of settings. The PCT/MA is a multi-disciplinary technical assistive healthcare personnel. PCT’s/MA’s are educated to provide basic nursing care under the supervision or direction of a Physician, Advanced Practice Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Pipefitting And Plumbing Technology

Pipefitting and Plumbing Technology is a competency-based training program that takes 1296 hours (12 months) to complete. Actual time is dependent upon the length of time it takes to achieve each competency. The individualized concept allows each student to progress at their own learning rate. The training program prepares students for an entry-level position as a pipefitter.

This program will graduate highly skilled professionals who possess a deep understanding of the industry and its many facets and available opportunities.

Transportation, Distribution, Warehousing, And Logistics

Truck Driving

The Truck Driving Program prepares individuals to build skills in safety practices, operation, vehicle maintenance, and non-vehicle activities associated with truck driving. Instruction includes the operation of vehicles on the interstate, on two-lane highways, in the city, backing and maneuvering. Also included are recordkeeping, and performing pre-trip/post-trip inspections and defensive driving.

Welding Technology

Welding is a 12-month program that provides students with the basic techniques of the welding process common in industry. Instruction in operations such as flame cutting, grinding, metal preparation, the use of tools and equipment, related math, physical properties of metal, effects of heat thickness allowances, shrinkage, basic joint design, layout, and fabrication are provided.
